The words written into a song, or rather the lyrics of the song, have the power to compel it to success or result in a total flop.
The Prewriting Phase of Essay Writing
It is through the lyrics of a song that a listener is able to find relatability. Oftentimes, when a listener relates to a song, they find themselves humming along with the tune, or singing the words in their head, they feel like the song is about them in some shape or form.
The best songs leave listeners wanting more, and provides them with some sort of message or lesson. Learning how to write meaningful and relatable lyrics will help you to develop a song that people actually want to listen to. The very first step to writing a song, before you ever even put the pen to the paper, is to choose your subject matter. What will your song be about? What do you want listeners to get out of it? At its very root, the song is quite literally about a man not wanting a pickle, but rather wanting to ride on his motorcycle.
However, the true meaning of the song is freedom.
When choosing your subject matter, you should also select a topic that is meaningful to you. Freewriting is simply the process of allowing all of the ideas your think up to make their way from your brain to the paper. With your subject in mind, allow yourself to write freely for the entire five minutes. Do not lift the pen off of the paper or stop writing until the timer sounds.
Once the timer sounds, you will likely notice a page of random words sitting in front of you. Consider the associations that you might have with each word, and where in your life those associations stem from. As you are writing sentences, try to come up with short phrases. Try to build upon each of your word associations to create paragraphs.
The Prewriting Stage of the Writing Process
After writing a few phrases, you might find that you can turn part of them into a verse, or even a central line in your main chorus. At this point, you should be ready to begin to write your chorus. Before you begin, review your list of phrases. Consider the ones with the strongest impact and select those that relate directly to you theme. Like other pieces of writing, a song can have several points of view.
As the writer, it is your job to decide what point of view will deliver the best results. You might want to test out multiple points of view in order to determine which is best suited for your specific story.
The chorus should be built around a specific emotion. Many of the best song choruses are shorter and express true emotion at the root of the song. There are no rules stating that your chorus needs to be complex. The trick is to write it so that your audience is able to resonate with it emotionally. Most often, a chorus will be between four and six lines. Next you will review everything you have written up to this point.
Does it make sense? If you are happy with your chorus, you can now start to write the verses. Or rather, fill in the blanks for the story between your subject and the reaction.
One of the most crucial elements of any great song is the action that navigates the song. You need to be as descriptive and entertaining as possible. Your song needs to not only grab the attention of your audience, it also needs to hold their attention. The writing process consists of different stages: prewriting, drafting, revising, and editing.
Prewriting is the "generating ideas" part of the writing process when the student works to determine the topic and the position or point-of-view for a target audience. Pre-writing should be offered with the time necessary for a student to create a plan or develop an outline to organize materials for the final product. The pre-writing stage could also be dubbed the "talking stage" of writing. Researchers have determined that talking plays an important role in literacy.
Andrew Wilkinson coined the phrase oracy, defining it as "the ability to express oneself coherently and to communicate freely with others by word of mouth. In other words, talking about a topic will improve the writing. This connection between talk and writing is best expressed by the author James Britton who stated: "talk is the sea upon which all else floats. There are a number of ways that students can tackle the prewriting stage of the writing process. Following are a few of the most common methods and strategies that students can use.
Teachers should recognize that prewriting that begins in a "sea of talk" will engage students. Many students will find that combining a couple of these strategies may work well to provide them with a great basis for their final product. They may find that if they ask questions as they brainstorm, free write, mind-map, or doodle, they will organize their ideas for the topic. In short, the time put in up front in the pre-writing stage will make the writing stage much easier.

Melissa Kelly, M.Writing is a process whose finished product is a sentence, a paragraph, an essay, etc. Prewriting is the first stage during which the writer needs to consider three main factors: topic, audience, and purpose. A student may have to deal with two different types of topics: assigned topics or chosen topics.
If the topic is assigned the directions for the assignment will limit and determine the approach to take. Instructions must be read carefully and directions must be followed exactly. If the student is free to select a topic, it is important to reflect on the value and meaning of the finished product. A writer should select something he is interested in and knowledgeable about, but he should also anticipate the desired effect he hopes to achieve and the reader's reaction he is looking for.
Any topic can generate an interesting discussion, if one considers the following possibilities: selecting an uncommon topic or using a new and original approach for an old topic.Essaytyper cheat money pc full
Audience's experience and knowledge of the subject needs to be considered for communication to be effective: too technical and specialized information may be above the reader's level of comprehension; a too basic or simple approach will bore the reader. The question to ask is: What does the reader have to gain from reading this essay? The purpose will be to inform, to entertain, or to persuade. Often these purposes will be combined in a paper, each purpose occurring in function of another.
The main purpose of prewriting activities is to find the focus of the paper. Focus is the point on which all energy is concentrated.Wustl research gateway address group email
If the topic is too broad, the paper will be vague, superficial, and likely disorganized. To determine if the topic is limited enough, consider the audience. You may want to take a general approach if your audience does not have specific knowledge of the subject.
You are also limited by our own knowledge of the subject. You cannot be specific about something you know little about. Of course, research will give you needed information about a topic.
Once you decide on the approach you may begin gathering ideas. Remember that you can always change the focus of your paper provided that you have enough time to make the necessary adjustments. If you have trouble limiting the subject, a prewriting activity may help you find the focus. Those ideas will have to be evaluated. Some will de deleted. New ones will be added. Some will be moved.Getting started on an essay can be more daunting than the act of writing the essay itself.
By breaking the writing process into a series of manageable steps, the blank page staring at you will seem less daunting. The first phase of writing an essay is the prewriting phase. Prewriting begins the moment you receive your assignment and ends when you are ready to begin writing your first draft. Before doing anything else -- before you complete your research or begin writing, even before you begin talking to others about your topic -- spend some time sitting with the question or subject that you will be writing about in your essay.
Let your views on the essay take form in your mind. How to write an opinion essay in few easy steps
Consider different ways of approaching the issue, your personal feelings and what you already know about the topic. Once you have had some time to think about your topic, and before you do any research, make a list of questions that you have.
List the places where you already know you have holes in your knowledge or in the argument that you would like to make and write down questions that you feel will help you fill in those holes.
Remember to consider the 5 W's and the H -- who, what, when, where, why and how -- and use these questions to guide your research. The thinking and questioning you have done in the early stages of prewriting will give you an idea of where to start your research. As you learn more about your topic, continue adding to your list of questions.
In the beginning, good research will provide you with as many questions as it does answers. Take notes on what you learn and, once you run out of questions, wrap up your research. Now is the time to assemble your thinking, questioning and research into the bare bones of an essay. Create an outline for your writing. Start with an introduction and choose the information that is most crucial to present to your reader first.
Introduce your thesis and any background information that is important for understanding your essay. Pull evidence from your research to back up your thesis and return to your thesis idea in your conclusion. List any references at the end of your outline. With this outline in place, your prewriting is complete, and your essay is off to a great start. It is the starting phase of the writing process and it is at this stage that a writer explores and puts their idea on paper.
This process will help a writer create an organized outline containing potential topics or ideas that will be the body of her work. Learning prewriting strategies will assist the writer in fine-tuning the process. Picking a topic that inspires and interests you as a writer positively influences the overall quality of the end product. Make a list of topics that you can comfortably write about and number them for easier reference.
Leave spaces between the individual topics and add any other relevant ideas that arise and create a coherent outline. Choose the appropriate subject by selecting a topic which has generated the most ideas. This is a type of brainstorming that involves jotting down all the thoughts you have on a specific topic. Note down the reason why you chose this topic and what is so interesting about it. Free writing provides the writer with an opportunity of focusing on the actual content of the paper without worrying about producing a polished piece.
Cluster your written ideas visually using graphic designs in creating a logic structure. Draw a circle containing the main idea in the middle and then sketch other smaller circles containing the supporting issues that relate to the main topic. Connect these smaller circles with the main one using a line. Grouping similar ideas together helps you in formulating an organized and cohesive outline. A writer may also use a chain-events graphic organizer by outlining in details the steps of the story or the actions of a certain character.
Analyze the topic carefully and formulate a variety of questions that relate with the main subject. This generates specific ideas that will guide you during writing. By comprehensively answering all the asked questions, you cover the essential information required for the topic. These answers guide the writer in completing a rough draft of the work.
